The ViewHD VHD-H2HSAs has one HDMI input, one HDMI output, one SPDIF output and RCA L / R stereo audio output.

It extracts 2CH PCM stereo audio signal from the HDMI input and convert it to 2CH analog stereo output through its RCA style L/R analog output AND SPDIF output at the same time. The SPDIF output can support 5.1CH Dolby Digital 5.1CH and DTS 5.1CH audio. The RCA L/R output will not have sound if the incoming audio is multi-channel audio (>2CH). (Please check VHD-AD3X1 / VHD-ADAC for DD5.1 or DTS5.1 to analog stereo decode application.) The HDMI output has identical video and audio signals as the A/V signals coming into its HDMI input. User can extract 2CH audio signal from HDMI input for stereo / headphone application and use the SPDIF output for surround receiver 5.1CH audio setup when HDMI source sends DD / DTS 5.1CH.

For Chromecast & Roku, please make sure your receiver can handle Dolby Digital Plus to get surround audio from HDMI, or use stereo mode for audio extraction. SPDIF does NOT support Dolby Digital Plus.

If you don’t get signal, leave the TV on, and power cycle the HDMI source unit. This extractor does not support ARC.

Set EDID to “5.1CH” for DD / DTS 5.1CH from SPDIF; HDMI supports all formats including Dolby Digitla Plus, PCM5.1CH and beyond.

For 5.1CH PCM or above, set EDID to “pass”, connect output to receiver directly.
